TECHNOLOGY . ARTEMICE CONSTITUTIVE™

TaconicArtemis is able to generate constitutive gene knock outs knock ins, in which the gene is modified throughout the life of the mouse. We do this using optimized standard technologies allowing the generation of constitutive knock out, humanized and over-expression mouse lines on defined genetic backgrounds such as C57BL/6.

We have developed a range of multi-purpose vectors that allow the generation of a constitutive KO mouse and then subsequently a conditional mouse without the necessity of re-making the vector or re-targeting the ES cells. We also routinely delete the selection marker to avoid any potential hypomorphic effects.

This can provide a rapid way of generating a conditional KO mouse once the constitutive KO is available, which is especially useful if the constitutive KO results in embryonic or perinatal lethality and for dissecting the role of the gene in particular tissues of interest.
